Matiz de Elvi Rioja 2008
All of my guests liked this wine — but I did not enjoy it very much. I found the finish to be a bit unpleasant, and I guess that I need a bit more time to adapt to the grape. My guests liked it just fine and were more than happy to drink my share of the bottle.
The wine is made of tempranillo grapes; recently I've seen several tempranillo wines from Spanish heritage regions such as Spain itself and South America. The wine is light bodied and is less dry. The wine went well with roasted chicken, but I am not certain it would combine well with red meat or sweet desserts.
