The Kosher Wine Review

Ella Valley Select

Select 2003

Rating: 1

Ella Valley Select isn't the same as Ella Valley Vineyards; the first time I posted this review, I received a very nice note from the manager at Ella Valley Vineyards pointing out that they are two different operations entirely. While I've put aside a few bottles of Ella Valley Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon for future use, I thought I would also try some of the Ella Valley Select, thinking it was the same vineyard and I'd be able to say a kind word for this inexpensive wine.

I was wrong about the kind word as well as the ownership. The wine is a mixture of Petite Sirah, Merlot, and Shiraz; it's a rough wine with plenty of rough edges; and it simply was not worth drinking. I can't recommend this wine at all and I'd be astonished if it improved with age.
