The Kosher Wine Review

Borgo Reale

Primitivo di Manduria 2001

Rating: 4

This is a very pleasing wine, and I consider it a bargin at this price.

The wine has a full body, not too heavy; the wine is dry but not excessively so. I particularly enjoyed the cheery nose, and in all the wine reminded me of one of the better Pinot Noir wines. The tanins and the acidity were nicely balanced; give this wine some air before you drink it.

I had this wine with my typical Friday night meal (soup, chicken, etc.) and it was perhaps a touch much when paired with a lighter soup. It went well with the chicken and would likely do well with meat. As for cheese — I guess I'll just have to open another bottle.
