The Kosher Wine Review

Barkan Classic

Pinot Noir 2004

Rating: 4

I've tried two other Pinot Noirs lately and been disappointed both times. They were both from good wineries, and they were both well-liked by others whose judgment I trust; but they simply didn't meet my expectations.

This Pinot Noir, however, was just plain good. In fact, I decided it was a bargain, and went back to the store to clear out their shelves. Some I'll drink immediately; I suspect that a few bottles ought to go into the cellar for a couple of years.

I found the wine to be full bodied and very dry; straightforward but very pleasing. I missed any hint of black cherry or mint; not a complex wine, but one that's well worth drinking.
